Well I think we can safely say that with the festivities of Christmas and the New Year well and truly behind us, it’s time to get back to work.
So, it’s January – what should we do in January?
We have been surrounded by the possibilities of New Year’s Resolutions and with most of them already broken, we realise that taking action is not as easy as we sometimes perceive it to be.
Well here at miworld we are going right back to basics about who we are, what we do and why we do it before making a plan.
After listening to a video my Margaret Lynch who simplified our intention into
“I show (target market) how to (solve biggest problem)”
I would like to share the questions we considered:
Here are two questions we started with:
1. Who do we want to work with?
2. What are their major challenges?
We are all in the business of solving problems; we just need to identify the best way to do this for our clients.
With these answers, you have a simple statement you can use in conversation:
Jane, what do you do?
• I show managing directors how to get time off
That’s’ great, however they often follow up with. “How could that benefit me?
Fiona Harrold talks about the value that we add and this becomes your next reply, defining the value that improves the lifestyle of your client
• “Do you ever find you become frustrated doing one thing because you feel you should be better doing something else?”
• “Yes”
• “Perhaps entertaining your people on the golf course, bringing in more business or even taking the family on holiday”
I found this really helpful, I hope you do too.
So, at the start of the year, “What do you do?”
Jane
